No. The sandpaper only files the nail tip when your dog scratches at their natural angle. The pads stay safe because they don't make sustained contact with the surface. Always supervise the first few sessions.

First voluntary scratch usually happens within the first week. Visibly shorter nails take 2 to 4 weeks of regular use. Pups with very long nails may need a month or more.

Yes. From a 5 pound Yorkie to a 100 pound Lab. Smaller pups may need slightly more sessions to file noticeably shorter nails because of lighter body weight. The mechanism works the same.
